The Lake City City Council on July 7 approved a contract with King Construction and the related performance and payment bonds for the Well No. 6 and Well No. 7 project and authorized the city’s construction loan application, moves the city says are intended to advance upgrades to its water system.
Council voted unanimously to approve the King Construction contract and bonds after discussion of the project’s next steps. The council later approved a construction loan application for the project on a unanimous roll-call vote (motion by Councilmember Daniel, second by Councilmember Vogt).
To finance the longer-term debt for the work, the council adopted Resolution 2025-24 to fix a date for a public hearing on a proposed Water Revenue Loan and Disbursement Agreement, authorizing the city to borrow in a principal amount not to exceed $1,929,000. That resolution passed on a motion by Bruns, seconded by Wilson, with all five council members voting aye.
Mayor Mike Schleisman and council members did not record dissent in any of the funding votes; all roll-call tallies in the record show Bruns, Daniel, Gorden, Vogt and Wilson voting yes on the contract, loan application and scheduling of the hearing.
The council’s actions on July 7 advance administrative steps; the public hearing required for the revenue loan will give residents an opportunity to review project scope, costs and repayment terms before the council decides whether to proceed with the borrowing. The record does not include further project budget breakdowns, construction timelines or the loan’s proposed repayment schedule.
Next procedural steps noted in the meeting record are the advertised public hearing on the water revenue loan (date to be fixed per the adopted resolution) and any subsequent formal loan agreement the council chooses to approve after the hearing.
