Police Chief Aaron Fuller told the Knoxville City Council on June 1 that the Police Department’s community safety event 'Helmets and Hot Dogs' was successful this year.
"Helmets and Hot Dogs was successful again this year, with approximately 300 kids in attendance. The Police Department gave away over 200 helmets and a whole lot of hot dogs," Chief Fuller said during departmental reports. He added that the department will hold a Kids’ Fishing Day event this Saturday.
The remarks were made during the council’s regular meeting at the Knoxville Municipal Building. Chief Fuller’s report was part of routine department updates; no council action was required or taken on the event report. The announcement provides a public reminder of upcoming community programming and the department’s injury-prevention outreach efforts.
The council completed other business later in the meeting, including approval of consent agenda items and two closed sessions (one for litigation and one for personnel) from which no action was reported.
