Mayor reports strong turnout at city cleanup day; council hears county road and development updates

Grant City’s mayor and staff used the meeting to report a successful city cleanup day and to update council on neighborhood road and development activity.
Mayor Ger said the cleanup had good weather, strong participation and approximately 200 hot dogs served; staff distributed recycling information tied to a recycling grant and materials about the MS4 stormwater permit. Several council members and residents were thanked for volunteering.
On infrastructure and development, staff explained that once developer agreements and final plats are approved, developers proceed with building and grading permits and staff (Brad Reck) performs inspections and final street acceptance. The council noted ongoing coordination with county officials on a local road issue; staff said a resolution of support and additional neighborhood meetings will be needed before plans move forward.
Council asked staff to follow up with the county and to place further updates on a future agenda when more information is available.
Next steps: staff will continue coordination with the county, track building permit issuance for the two developments, and report back to council.
