Montrose to pursue LRIP grant for Clement Avenue; wastewater regionalization work moves forward

City Engineer Jared updated the council on Sept. 8 about the city’s push for a Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) grant to fund full-depth reclamation of Clement/Clementa Avenue and on progress on the wastewater regionalization project.
Jared said council had already authorized applying for the LRIP grant and asked whether council wanted staff to coordinate with Mary’sville Township should the township also pursue the grant. Jared reported having discussed the matter with a county commissioner who encouraged the city’s approach. Council authorized staff to coordinate with Mary’sville Township on the Clement Avenue application and to proceed when the township gives its support.
On wastewater regionalization, staff reported wetland delineations are complete and cultural-resources reviews are in progress as required by funding agencies. Notices have gone out and survey work is under way; staff expects a draft PPL (project priority list) to be released in September and will continue to pursue funding from the Public Facilities Authority.
Council approved a motion to proceed with the LRIP application and to coordinate with the township as appropriate; the motion passed 5-0.
