The Paynesville City Council approved buying playground equipment for Amp Park using a $10,000 donation from the Chain of Lake Soccer Club.
Staff said the soccer club donated $10,000 to purchase and install equipment and the parks board recommended contracting Pro Playgrounds for equipment priced at $9,999. Council discussed that the quoted price does not include ground surfacing; staff said sand was proposed initially and that creating an ADA-accessible pathway or rubber surfacing would require additional fundraising and likely a future appropriation. The Lions Club has indicated interest in contributing and its Leos group may help with landscaping and installation.
Council moved and seconded to approve the purchase using the soccer-club donation; the motion carried with one recorded opposition. Staff will proceed to order the equipment and plan installation with public-works assistance and volunteer help from the Lions Leos program.
