Danielle, the city clerk, asked council to update the city's authorized credit‑card policy, saying the existing department‑head credit‑card limit of $1,000—established around 2005—no longer meets routine needs. She proposed raising limits for department heads to $2,000, while keeping the existing controls (Lance must approve any purchase over $1,000 and a PO is required within 24 hours of a card purchase).
Council members supported the change as a modest update to reflect rising costs for training, equipment and travel. "I think this is a good starting point and we'll find out," one member said; another noted the limit could be revisited if it proves insufficient. The council moved, seconded and approved the limit increase.
The clerk said the city pays its credit‑card balance after each council meeting; department heads who currently use cards include Brian, Todd, Marie, Shad, Maggie, Danielle and Lance (with higher limits for Lance and the mayor).
