"If we did that, we'd get up into that $475,000 range, which should be enough to match if we get this grant," Lance said. The council voted to earmark the described funds and authorize proceeding with the grant application.
Council members discussed whether the project would demolish the existing structure; staff said the intent is a full demo and new build but that some historic features might be preserved where practical. Jordan said additional numbers for the total project cost and final match requirements will be presented in future meetings if the grant application advances.
Next steps: staff will submit the DNR grant application, refine project cost estimates, and return to council with formal budget and procurement steps if the grant is successful.
