Paynesville council approves consent agenda, surplus-property sale and intergovernmental inspection backup

The Paynesville City Council approved several routine and administrative items during its meeting.

Consent agenda and vouchers: The council approved the consent agenda, which included minutes and vouchers totaling $380,269. A motion was made and seconded and the measure passed by voice vote.

Surplus fence: Councilors debated whether to retain chain-link fence materials pulled from well sites or to advertise them for sale. Department staff said the police department no longer needed the materials and the items are occupying a trailer. Joint powers agreement for building inspections: The council approved a joint powers agreement with Mer County to provide backup building-code inspection services when the city’s inspector is unavailable; the agreement was described as a continuity measure after the prior partner’s inspector passed away.

Insurance agreement with the school district: Council approved a routine agreement with Independent School District 741 (Paynesville Area Schools) to allow use of city property and to list the city as an additional insured on the district’s policy.

Donation: The council accepted a $150 donation to the police department. The motion carried with one abstention noted.
