Pelican Rapids leaders voted April 14 to approve a resolution (2026‑07) that forwards the city’s support for the MnDOT 59 South project scheduled for 2028 and provides required documentation for the state. Administrator Ryson said the city’s estimated share for all three phases is about $100,000, based on current estimates provided with the resolution.
Council members discussed alignment and connectivity concerns, with one member noting sidewalk segments that currently lead to incomplete links; staff said the sidewalk is being built in anticipation of future expansion. The resolution was moved and approved by voice vote.
The approval allows staff to meet state submittal requirements for the project; the council did not finalize a funding schedule beyond accepting the estimate and authorizing the resolution to proceed.
