Clerk authorized to send legislative letter; council approves small utility write-offs and a hazardous pickup event

Pothast also asked for permission to write a city letter regarding proposed legislation that would remove landlord notification requirements to water utilities; council members agreed she should send the letter, citing concerns that the change could lead to unpaid and uncollectible bills.
On solid-waste coordination, the clerk reported she had contacted Rhodes and Rhodes agreed to hold a joint hazardous materials pickup on June 25 at the old Rhodes fire station; the city will need a volunteer to staff the event and the clerk will publicize acceptable items on the Melbourne Happenings Facebook page.
