"This is the same thing as seat belts and kids wearing helmets," SSA chair Ms. Wetzel said, framing the resolution as a safety-education measure rather than a gun-ownership restriction. She thanked Diane Santo and community partners who contributed references and resources included in the resolution packet.
Committee members discussed the framing and confirmed the resolution does not seek to restrict lawful gun ownership; it asks the district to provide resources and talking points for caregivers about safe storage. Following a motion to affirm the updated resolution, the committee approved it by voice vote.
