Orin Kip was sworn in as a Bayport City council member at the start of the Feb. 2 meeting, taking the oath in full at the dais: "I, Orin Kip, do solemnly swear ..." Mayor Hansen and other council members applauded after the oath and posed for photos.
The council moved quickly through routine business. Council member Katie moved to approve the meeting agenda; Orin Kip seconded, and the motion passed by voice vote. Later the council considered a resolution to adopt the consent agenda, which bundled minutes from the Jan. 5 workshop and regular meeting, the January payables and receipts, building and zoning permit reports, a city registration application for Bayport Liquor at 1023rd Street North as a state-approved lower-potency hemp-edible retailer, an off-sale liquor license for the Langford Exchange at 328 Fifth Avenue North, a reimbursement policy for damages from water-main breaks or sewer backups, and two special-event applications for Lakeside Park. Council member Carl moved to adopt the resolution; Ethan seconded. A roll-call vote recorded Council members Bliss, Gilmar, Kip, Hill and Mayor Hansen voting "I," and the resolution was approved unanimously.
The meeting had no public hearings, unfinished business or new business on the agenda. Council members then shared liaison reports and staff updates before adjourning.
