Carroll school board approves multiple hires, accepts resignation and adds volunteer coach

The Carroll Consolidated School Corp. board on June 23 approved multiple personnel actions to staff the 2026–27 school year, including classroom hires, extracurricular sponsor assignments and a corporation nurse.
The board voted to hire Matthew Lacy as an English teacher at Carroll Junior–Senior High School and Taylor Fe as the junior–senior high music teacher; both were placed on salary-grid row A at $45,000 pending background and reference verifications. Cameron Blackwell was approved as band teacher at row E, listed at $46,000. The board approved Lauren Stettler as a third-grade teacher at Carroll Elementary School at row A ($45,000) pending the usual checks.
The board also approved hiring Cassandra Dowen as the corporation nurse for 2026–27 at $55,000 on a 185-day contract, again subject to packet terms and verifications. Administration explained the nurse appointment was the result of a successful recruitment effort.
Separately, trustees approved a slate of extracurricular activity (ECA) sponsor assignments for the coming year so new teachers would have those responsibilities reflected in pay. The board accepted a letter of resignation from business teacher Vicki Maris effective June 18, 2026, and approved adding Dennis Joiner as a volunteer football coach for the 2026–27 season.
All personnel approvals were presented from the meeting packet and carried by voice vote without recorded opposition. Several items were noted as pending standard background and reference checks. The board said additional personnel and routine financial items will be handled at the next regular meeting on July 21, 2026.
