Council approves onsite physicals for volunteers and accidental-death coverage for fire department

First, councilors approved a quote from Mobile Health Services to provide annual physicals for fire-department members. The sessions are slated for April 2–3. The council approved the vendor quote by motion.
Second, the council approved a group accidental death and dismemberment policy for volunteer department members offered via the League of Cities through True North. Officials noted the policy provides a standard coverage level (packet materials cited $20,000 coverage and discussed minimum participation/pricing structure) and that members aged 70 and older may have different coverage terms. The council approved purchase of the policy at the amount included in the packet ($292.66 reported).
Council discussion emphasized continuity with other departments’ cycles and ensuring test results are routed appropriately to employee files. Council also noted the health screening is not a drug test and that results are returned individually for each member.
