Councilors discussed two options for gas service—bringing the line from the fire station as a private line or extending the main to the wellhouse—but said the bids did not change under either scenario.
Council approved the resolution awarding the project to Hawkeye Electric and instructed staff to coordinate installation logistics, mapping and locates so the private feed option, if chosen, will be documented and flagged in GIS records.
Officials said they hope to have the generator installed before winter but noted lead times reported by bidders ranged from four to 16 weeks, which would place installation timelines toward the end of the year depending on the contractor's lead time.
