Red Oak City Council approves stop signs, equipment purchase, grant and sets public hearing in routine Tuesday meeting

At its Aug. 18 meeting the Red Oak City Council approved a string of routine items and heard public comment on local streets.
The council approved Resolution 2025-99 to purchase a 2023 John Deere Gator XUV 590M for $12,000. The motion was made by Councilperson Adam Hietbrink and seconded by Councilperson Tim Fridolph; a roll-call vote was unanimous.
Council approved Ordinance 2025-12 on its second reading to add stop signs at Coolbaugh/Highland Streets and Miller/Reed Streets. The motion to approve the ordinance was made by Councilperson Tim Fridolph and seconded by Councilperson Jeanice Lester; the council voted unanimously.
The council also approved Resolution 2025-100 to hold a Fall Clean Up Day on Saturday, Oct. 4; Resolution 2025-101 to grant a temporary easement for 100 W. Market; and Resolution 2025-98 setting a Sept. 2 public hearing to consider disposal of 12 city lots. All motions passed on unanimous roll-call votes.
Other approvals included Resolution 2025-95, a maintenance agreement with IDOT for Highway 34 mowing, and Resolution 2025-102 awarding a DUR grant of $7,500 to Rustic Blonde/McCunn Rental LLC. Motions for these measures were recorded with unanimous roll-call votes.
During public comment, resident Levi Franks raised concerns about street signs on Nuckols Street. The council also discussed a possible full-time laborer position for cemetery and nuisance duties and a NACO position; no motion to create a position was recorded in the meeting transcript.
City Administrator Lisa Kotter reported on an ongoing software conversion. The council noted upcoming meeting dates and the mayor adjourned the meeting at 7:16 p.m.
