Red Oak council hears park, pool and ROCIA updates; discusses rummage-sale limits and regional representative

At the Sept. 2 Red Oak City Council meeting Park Superintendent Adam VanDerVliet and Pool Manager Georgana Derr reported successful pool attendance, steady summer staffing and routine maintenance; the council received those operational updates with no follow-up action recorded.
Elaine Carlson briefed the council on ROCIA activities, highlighting business promotion opportunities through the ROCIA magazine and a conference that ROCIA is promoting for local businesses.
During later agenda discussion councilmembers touched on a potential ordinance to limit rummage and garage sales in the city; the minutes record a discussion but no ordinance language, motion or vote. The council also discussed naming City Administrator Lisa Kotter as the city’s representative to the SWIPCO RPA‑13 regional planning agency; that discussion was recorded but no appointment vote appears in the minutes.
City Administrator Kotter additionally provided an administrative update noting completion of city lot sales procedures in progress, a Brownfields RFQ, upcoming League of Cities events (Sept. 17–19) and submission of a Rural Housing Innovation grant application.
