Red Oak City Council approves sale of multiple city lots, creates cemetery maintenance position and adopts stop-sign ordinance

The Red Oak City Council on Sept. 2 approved a series of resolutions authorizing the sale of multiple city-owned lots, created a new full-time cemetery maintenance position and adopted an ordinance adding stop signs at two intersections.
In unanimous roll-call votes the council approved Resolutions 2025-103 through 2025-116, which authorize sale of city parcels to named buyers at stated prices. Parcels approved for sale include properties commonly known as 210 N. 5th St.; 300 E. Market St.; 110 S. 3rd St.; 108 C St. and an adjacent vacant lot; 407 1st Ave.; 111 2nd Ave.; 107 and 109 4th Ave.; 818 E. Nuckols; 204 N. 4th St.; 911 N. 2nd St.; 305 E. Market St.; and 405 4th Ave. The minutes record that each public hearing on the proposed sales drew no public comments before the mayor closed the hearings.
Council also approved personnel actions. On a motion by Tim Fridolph and second by Sharon Bradley the council adopted Resolution 2025-117, approving a revised job description for the Nuisance and Animal Control Officer. The council then approved Resolution 2025-118, on a motion by Jeanice Lester and second by Adam Hietbrink, to create and hire a new full-time cemetery maintenance employee with shared responsibilities for nuisance abatement and maintenance of city-owned property.
On final reading the council unanimously passed Ordinance 2025-12 to add stop signs at the intersections of Coolbaugh/Highland and Miller/Reed streets.
Votes at a glance: Resolutions 2025-103 through 2025-116 (city lot sales) — all approved on unanimous roll call (councilmembers Fridolph, Bills, Bradley, Hietbrink and Lester recorded as voting aye). Resolution 2025-117 (revised job description) — approved unanimously. Resolution 2025-118 (create and hire cemetery maintenance employee) — approved unanimously. The council scheduled upcoming regular meetings for Sept. 15 and Oct. 6. No further public comment was recorded on the sale items at this meeting.
