Commissioners approve school funding amendments, architects for East High and food-service cash transfer

Cannon County commissioners approved a package of school-related budget amendments and a capital project spending authorization during their June 25 special meeting.
The commission approved BA 25/26-21 and other school amendments, and authorized a purchase order to hire an architect to update East High School drawings. Staff said the work will be funded from the Adequate Facilities Tax (AFT) reserve and estimated the architect’s fee would be “hardly $10,000.” Commissioners clarified that the AFT reserve is separate from the general fund.
Officials also approved a short-term transfer of funds from the general purpose school fund into the food service fund to ensure payroll and vendor payments clear; the transfer was described as a cash-flow measure and was approved by voice vote.
Finally, the commission moved and approved a grouped set of Board of Education amendments (BA 25/26 Nos. 17 through 43) after staff confirmed details could be verified with school finance staff. No member requested tabling or separate consideration of the consent package.
The commission adjourned following completion of the listed items.
