ISFIS briefs Allamakee board on district finance; administrators report operational updates

Larry Sigel of Iowa School Finance Information Services (ISFIS) gave the board an overview of school finance basics along with current-year and projected data relevant to the district’s fiscal health during the Feb. 18 meeting.
Following the presentation, district administrators provided short oral reports: Transportation Director Justin Piggott said winter sports are ending and thanked bus drivers for flexibility with schedules; Food Service Director Jess Keenan previewed National School Breakfast Week and noted careful purchasing to mitigate egg-price increases; Technology Director Andy Reichard said the IT department is preparing for ISASP testing; Buildings and Grounds Director Bill Hennessy thanked custodians and substitutes for coverage; Special Education Director Carissa Otto outlined the upcoming release of a Family Portal; and principals and activities directors previewed upcoming events and congratulated students who qualified for state competitions.
The presentation and reports served as informational updates; no fiscal actions were taken specifically as a result of the ISFIS overview beyond the budget process steps the board later approved.
