ELA teachers tell board author visits, collaborative work are boosting student engagement

ELA Professional Learning Team members Tess Hawes, Jaydon Snitker and Lisa Snitker presented their work to the board on Dec. 16, highlighting collaborative instructional practices intended to improve student literacy and engagement.
The presenters described joint planning, classroom strategies and recent and upcoming author visits; the minutes state the team believes those visits have been beneficial for student engagement and enjoyment of reading. The presentation was informational and no board action was requested.
The board also heard multiple administrator reports the same evening that noted complementary instructional and extracurricular activity updates, such as computer science week and cross-grade collaborations.
