Allamakee board adopts budget-guarantee resolution, sets tax and budget hearings and OKs facility purchases

The Allamakee Community School District Board of Education adopted a budget-guarantee resolution, set public hearings on proposed taxes and budgets, and approved several facility purchases during its Feb. 18, 2025 meeting in the high school library.
Board members voted unanimously to adopt the budget-guarantee resolution, a procedural action that authorizes the district to levy at the level required by state budget provisions for the coming year. The motion to adopt the resolution was moved by Jesse Delaney and seconded by Beth Shafer.
The board also set two public hearings by unanimous vote: a hearing on the 2025–26 proposed property taxes for Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. in the high school library, and a hearing on the 2025–26 budget and an amendment to the 2024–25 budget for Monday, April 21, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. in the high school library.
On routine facility and maintenance business, the board accepted Boland Recreation’s quote of $18,534 for replacement parts for East Elementary playground equipment and approved O’Neill Plumbing & Heating, LLC’s quote of $9,293.75 to replace the Middle School water heater. Both motions passed with all ayes. The playground quote was moved by Beth Shafer and seconded by Jesse Delaney; the water heater motion was moved by Jesse Delaney and seconded by Scott Melcher.
The board also approved a student enrollment agreement with Caledonia Independent School District (Minnesota reciprocity), allowing specified students to enroll under the terms presented; that motion passed unanimously.
No votes failed; all recorded motions at the Feb. 18 meeting carried. The board adjourned at 6:45 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for March 17, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. in the high school library.
