Allamakee board approves consent agenda, hires coaches and custodian and renews backpack program

The Allamakee Community School District board approved its consent agenda during a regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, July 15, 2024, in the high school library. The motion to approve the consent agenda passed unanimously.
Board President Allan Rissman called the meeting to order and the board approved the agenda earlier in the meeting. On the consent agenda the board recorded personnel recommendations that included naming Katelyn Thiessen as the 9th-grade volleyball coach, appointing volunteer varsity football coaches Jarod Dahlstrom, Jon Snitker and Chris Dahlstrom, and hiring Cassie Schellsmidt as high school night custodian. The minutes note that all hires and volunteers are subject to satisfactory background checks.
The board also approved four open-enrollment exits to Eastern Allamakee for Alea Rowan, Sylus Rowan, Alexus Rowan and Sara Waterworth. Written agreements were approved for a Luther College student-teaching placement and an agreement with Chileda Day School. The board renewed the Backpack Program for the 2024–25 school year and approved the Free and Reduced School Meals application process.
The consent agenda was adopted on a motion by Board Member Erik Helgerson, seconded by Beth Shafer; the minutes record the vote as all ayes. No public comments were received during the public forum.
The board adjourned at 6:06 p.m.; the next regular meeting is set for Monday, August 19, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. in the high school library.
