The Village of South Bloomfield council voted unanimously on June 2 to adopt its 2026 budget and to enact a new Code of Ordinances as an emergency.
During the regular meeting, Councilor Dena Cobb moved to approve the second reading of Ordinance 2025-10, adopting the village's 2026 budget; Woody Blanton seconded the motion and council members voted yes. The action finalizes the budget for the coming fiscal year.
Council then considered Ordinance 2025-12, a measure enacting the village's Code of Ordinances. Councilor Cobb moved to approve the first reading, seconded by Tom Ramsay; that motion carried. Ramsay subsequently moved to waive the second and third readings and approve Ord 2025-12 as an emergency, a motion seconded by Woody Blanton and adopted by unanimous vote, immediately enacting the ordinance.
The meeting record shows all votes on these measures were recorded as "yes" by council members Woody Blanton, Tom Ramsay, Lisa McDorman, Dena Cobb and Amber Murphy. No abstentions or no votes were recorded in the transcript.
An audit-related invoice was noted during department updates: an $11,615 invoice to Gueye and Associates for the 2022–2023 audit was to be approved with the bills. The council later voted to pay bills during the same meeting.
The council scheduled its next regular meeting for July 7, 2025 at 6:00 p.m.
