City Clerk/Administrator Jake Dickson updated the Caledonia City Council on the 2026 state legislative session and on downtown parking striping at the June 8 meeting.
Dickson said none of the City’s requests were signed into law this session, including a proposed local sales tax and a library bond issue. He also reported that some statewide measures affecting Minnesotans generally were enacted or discussed, including property tax and license tab fee relief and a measure to increase disability benefits for police and fire. The clerk did not provide statute numbers or bill identifiers in the meeting record.
On downtown parking, Dickson presented engineering quotes estimating about $20,000 to fully lay out downtown parking striping. The council discussed the cost and reached consensus to complete the striping in-house rather than contracting the layout. The meeting record does not include a formal motion or purchase price for striping; council direction was recorded as consensus to proceed with in-house work.
The council also reviewed overtime reports for May 11–24 and took no action.
