The commission approved a revised planting plan for The Charleston development at 71 Havemeyer Lane after conservation staff and the applicant worked through field inspections and plan edits.
Applicant counsel Eric Brower and landscape architect Matthew Popp described changes that replace the prior arborvitae monoculture with a more diverse palette: understory and midstory plantings, replacement of invasive barberry, and addition of several street‑tree‑scale canopy and midstory specimens (including oak and shad species) to improve habitat and the streetscape. Conservation staff inspected the site, reviewed the revised plan and supported the June 3, 2026 revision. The commission voted to approve the revision and required the applicant to comply with remaining stipulation conditions from the original settlement.
The approval included a direction to use the June 3, 2026 plan set (as revised) and to proceed with the planting schedule and protective measures as required by project conditions.
