The Old Greenwich School building committee reported construction is in its third month and focused on Phase 1A work at the rear of the building, including drainage and a new playground, the RTM was told.
The committee said renovation of the cafeteria, kitchen, mechanical spaces, gym, music and art rooms will occur over the summer and the new elevator is expected to be installed by the end of the year. The addition is targeted for occupancy in summer 2027 and the committee reiterated a goal of completing the overall project by January 2029.
"Initial work in phase 1A has focused on the back part of the school as we install drainage in a new playground in advance of starting on the new addition this summer," the committee chair said. The committee noted quarterly reports are being submitted to the RTM and the next will arrive with July call materials.
Committee leaders characterized the schedule as aggressive but feasible and thanked RTM members for multi-year support of design and funding decisions. They signaled that additional appropriations remain possible later in the project as construction advances and contingencies are consumed.
The building committee will continue to provide quarterly public updates and submit formal notices to the RTM if budget or schedule adjustments are necessary.
