Alton council approves Civic Systems financial-software conversion; economic prospect discussed

The Alton City Council on Jan. 14 approved a software conversion to Civic Systems, LLC following staff demonstrations and vendor quotes. City Clerk/Administrator Laurie Tentinger presented demonstrations and pricing from Tyler Technologies and Civic Systems, LLC; after considering pricing and staff recommendations the council approved the conversion (motion by Jorgensen, second by Kleinhesselink; ayes 5).
Separately, Administrator Dale Oltmans informed the council of a prospective business planning construction of a new facility in the Industrial Park and discussed possible economic development incentives the city could offer. Council members discussed options but did not record a formal incentive agreement at the meeting.
Staff also reported that bids are out for the 3rd Ave Flood Repair Project and that the engineer’s recommendation will be presented at the February meeting. The council approved the preliminary FY25 budget during the same session.
