Andrew council approves consent agenda but withholds sheriff payment pending report

At its Feb. 11 meeting, the Andrew City Council approved the consent agenda while pausing payment to the Jackson County Sheriff pending receipt of a report; the council reviewed line-item accounts payable, wage totals and monthly fund balances.
Mayor Mike Roeder called the regular Andrew City Council meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 11. Council approved the consent agenda but instructed staff to withhold the Jackson County Sheriff Department payment until the council receives a report about the item.
The clerk presented accounts payable line items prior to and for the meeting, including utilities, testing and contract payments. Notable entries included a $9,500.00 yearly contract payment to the Jackson County Sheriff Department, sewer-camera and storage purchases, and routine vendor invoices. Monthly fund totals showed combined revenues of $28,011.92 and expenses of $41,554.58 for January. The minutes also list gross wages and a separate yearly-wage total of $55,800.65 (individual amounts appear in the minutes, including $48,304.76 for Jeff Witt).
Councilmember John Williams moved to approve the consent agenda with the exception of the sheriff’s check; Councilmember Zachary Jamison seconded and the motion carried with all ayes. The council requested a report on the sheriff payment before issuing the check. The meeting record shows no public comment on the item.
