Alton council adopts resolution to set public hearing on 2025–26 budget

The Alton City Council on April 1 unanimously adopted Resolution 25-14 to set a public hearing on the city’s proposed fiscal year 2025–2026 budget, Mayor Dan Vande Griend said as he called the brief special meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

The resolution, identified in the minutes as Resolution 25-14, was introduced and moved for adoption by Council Member Mulder and seconded by Council Member Frederes. On the roll call vote Mulder, Frederes, Plathe, Jorgensen and Kleinhesselink voted yes; there were no nays. Mayor Dan Vande Griend declared the resolution duly adopted. The minutes do not specify the date, time or location of the public hearing.

Before taking up the resolution, the council approved the meeting agenda on a motion by Council Member Jorgensen, seconded by Council Member Mulder, and approved minutes from the March 11, 2025 meeting on a motion by Jorgensen seconded by Council Member Plathe; both votes were recorded as “ayes 5.”

City Clerk/Administrator Dale Oltmans announced the next regular council meeting will be held April 15. The special meeting was adjourned at 6:40 p.m. on a motion by Council Member Plathe, seconded by Council Member Jorgensen, with an aye vote of five members.
