As part of the consent agenda on June 23 the Clarkdale Town Council approved two pending liquor-license applications (Clarkdale Classic Station and Circle K) by voice vote after briefly pulling the items for discussion.
A councilmember urged a future conversation about the kind of businesses the town wants and expressed concern that Clarkdale currently has many outlets selling alcohol. Staff said corrected license-area maps and background information would be included in a future packet or updated website materials for council review. The council agreed to remove the broader policy discussion from the consent vote and to schedule it for a work session, while proceeding to approve the two applications.
The council also handled multiple other consent items (minutes, facility-use agreements for local nonprofits, and the Made in Clarkdale facility-use agreement with a one-to-three-day annual maximum for clubhouse use after the mayor recused herself). All consent votes carried without recorded opposition.
Next steps: staff will provide corrected liquor-license maps to be included in the next packet or posted online, and the council plans a future work session to discuss license density and community goals related to alcohol-serving businesses.
