Residents ask council to study four-way stop at Trestle Road and Veterans’ Honor Parkway after crash

During the public forum at the Dec. 1 meeting, resident Sally Rehberger urged the Highland City Council to install a four-way stop at the intersection of Trestle Road and Veterans’ Honor Parkway after a recent collision.
Rehberger described being involved in a wreck near the overpass and said the intersection felt too close to the overpass and that traffic speeds there were a concern. John Hester, who also spoke, said he had “done everything I was supposed to” before a crash occurred while coming from Trestle Road.
Mayor Kevin Hemann said the council would refer the request to staff to examine crash records and return with recommendations. City Manager Chris Conrad cautioned that placing a stop where Veterans’ Honor Parkway approaches an overpass “is not an ideal location for traffic to stop” because approaching motorists may not see a stop sign in time.
The council did not take immediate action; the matter was referred to staff for investigation and recommendation based on collision history and safety analysis.
