The LAKE OF THE WOODS SCHOOL DISTRICT board approved a slate of routine items at its July 28, 2025 meeting, including student handbooks, personnel appointments, the high-school course schedule and several election-related resolutions.
Mary Merchant presented the elementary and high-school handbooks, saying attendance language was aligned across levels and that high-school attendance would continue to be tracked by class period. The board approved the elementary and high-school handbooks by voice vote.
The board approved personnel actions and a list of coaching hires (including head and assistant coaches across varsity and junior-high levels); the board recorded abstentions by Kayla Johnson and Robin Sonard on at least one personnel vote. One resignation accepted was from a high-school social-studies teacher who also served as assistant athletic director and head baseball coach.
The board approved the high-school course schedule for 2025–26 and voted to adopt several resolutions: 2025/26-02 establishing dates for filing affidavits of candidacy, 2025/26-03 establishing procedures for counting in-person votes and 2025/26-04 calling a special school-district election. Each resolution was adopted by roll-call vote as presented.
The board also approved policy revisions that reflect state statute changes and MSBA recommendations; members clarified that the district’s separate cell-phone policy remains in place despite state edits to the sample technology language.
Most routine motions passed by voice or roll-call vote with no substantive amendments; staff will forward approved handbooks and materials to Synergy and post guidance to parents once documentation is finalized.
