The district's new superintendent used a brief working session on July 2 to outline an initial 100‑day plan focused on relationship building, contract review and aligning district timelines with state requirements.
"I'm calling them sample interview questions," the superintendent said when describing planned one‑on‑one meetings with board members intended to identify district priorities and local stakeholders. He said step one is meeting individually with board members, followed by similar meetings with directors, coordinators and administrative staff to build a network of contacts and community champions.
He reported completing facility tours with Kyle and Dale and said he is reading through district contracts to prepare for negotiations. He set a target to schedule the first committee meeting on contract or negotiation items near the end of July or the beginning of August. He also said he will attend a finance academy and the 'great start' cohort sponsored by the Minnesota Association of School Administrators on July 15–16 to align district processes with Minnesota Department of Education timing.
The superintendent flagged several planned outreach steps: meeting with city and county officials, meeting student representatives and community groups, and being visible at community events (noting plans to attend Fourth of July activities). He also mentioned practical onboarding tasks such as completing phone setup and obtaining a SIM card at the AT&T store to complete district communications.
Board members welcomed the superintendent's approach and encouraged the one‑to‑one interviews as a foundation for setting district direction for the school year. The working session wrapped up at about 6:16 p.m.
The record does not include the superintendent's name; he self-identified only by role as superintendent. Several staff and local contacts were named by first name (Jeff, Kyle, Dale, Mary Merchant, Nicole, Bill) as part of described onboarding plans.
