At the regular meeting the board voted to adopt the proposed 2025–26 budget as presented. Board members then approved personnel items including the hiring of Heather Northrup as the district’s main office secretary and accepted retirements from Jackie Pearson (head cook) and Lisa Beckstrand (pool coordinator). The board also approved a resolution (2024/2025-37) that included actions to recognize Scott Pit Simmons in the district’s official authorizations effective July 1, 2025.
The board unanimously adopted Resolution 2024/2025-38 to call an election authorizing the issuance of school building bonds and to approve a capital project levy authorization. The resolution and sample ballot text were included in the packet; district staff said they expected review comments from Minnesota Department of Education in late August and that Pete Martin of Kennedy & Graven is preparing the full election packet.
Other approved actions included standard consent items (minutes and financial statements), acceptance of invoices and bank reconciliations, approval of MHSL (Minnesota High School League) membership for 2025–26, the adoption of a $17/hour wage for part-time summer mowing staff, and the award of the food-service bid to Performance Food Services.
