Sigler said he has discussed data‑center technology with a local builder who constructs facilities for Facebook and that new approaches, such as small nuclear reactors for on‑site power and closed‑loop evaporative cooling systems that reduce water use, are being developed. He said some people he’s spoken with are not aware of those technologies and offered a handout for commissioners.
"I'm not against it," Sigler said of data centers, but he recommended the commission consider how large infrastructures can adapt to new power and cooling systems as proposals come forward. He also said he had spoken with 'Senator Jacobson' about the topic.
The commission received the comment; no formal action was taken. Sigler provided contact information and a handout to the commission.
