Separately, staff said two large dead trees in the city park posed safety and aesthetic issues and requested authorization to hire a contractor to remove the trees and grind stumps. The council authorized staff to spend up to $2,000 for tree removal and stump work. The council also agreed to remove a frost- and storm-damaged picnic shelter and to process the claim with the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust; staff said the shelter’s concrete pad remains and a replacement could be considered later.
Staff said they would obtain cost estimates for structural work at city hall (a deteriorating back-entrance wall) and return to the council with a funding plan. No final decision on bleacher replacement was made; staff will follow up on options and potential school partnership.
