Calhoun County department heads presented budget requests for fiscal year 2026–27 during the supervisors’ Dec. 16 meeting. Barb Riley, the county’s Public Health Director, presented a FY25/26 amendment and her FY26/27 request; Kristi Johnson, HR Director; Steven Heinlen, IT Director; Ricole Potts for the Calhoun County Exposition; representatives of the Calhoun County Museum; and County Recorder Cathy Voith also presented requests.
Following presentations, the board approved changes to paid time off and vacation accruals and other leave-policy revisions to the employee handbook, effective Jan. 11, 2026. The action was taken on a motion by Cory Ridgely, seconded by Scott Jacobs; the record states ‘ayes all.’
The board also accepted the insurance committee’s recommendation of a 4% increase in employee health insurance premiums for FY 26/27 while keeping the employer contribution at 87.5% and employees at 12.5% of the monthly premium. That recommendation was accepted on a motion by Ridgely and second by Jacobs, with a unanimous vote. The meeting record does not specify dollar amounts or total premium costs for the county or employees.
