Marquette County planning committee approves two rezones and Board of Adjustment appointments

The Marquette County Planning & Zoning Committee voted unanimously on June 4 to approve two rezoning requests and to appoint members to the county Board of Adjustment.
The committee approved a rezone request from Randal Bro that would change portions of two parcels in the Town of Buffalo from Prime Agriculture (AG-1) to Agricultural Residential (AG-3(5)) with 90.65 acres placed under a Farmland Preservation Overlay (FPO) and a minimum 5-acre rezone to AG-3(5). Zoning Administrator Jean Potter said the request was properly noticed and had Town of Buffalo approval. John Bennett moved to approve and forward the matter to the County Board; Eli Schmudlach seconded and the motion carried 4-0.
The committee also approved a rezone for Christy and Martha Mast in the Town of Newton, moving a minimum of 5 acres to AG-3(5) and 42.50 acres to FPO for a total of 47.50 acres across two parcels. Potter reported the rezone had been published twice and that the Town of Newton approved the request. Bennett moved to approve and forward to the County Board; Schmudlach seconded and the motion carried 4-0.
In separate action, the committee introduced and approved Board of Adjustment appointments: David Benson (Town of Harris) as a member with a term expiring June 2029, and Heidi Robinson (Town of Westfield) as second alternate with a term expiring June 2029. The appointments were made on a motion by Bennett, seconded by Schmudlach, and carried 4-0 after brief introductions.
The approved rezones will be considered by the County Board at a future meeting. The committee noted additional rezone hearings are scheduled for the July and August meetings.
