Township approves claims and payroll changes; maintenance crews report ditch work underway

At its Sept. 3 meeting Silver Creek Township approved routine financial items and received an update on maintenance activities and office-equipment needs.
Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen moved and Supervisor Ryan Nelson seconded approval of the list of claims and disbursements; the motion carried 4-0. The board also approved payroll via direct deposit on a 4-0 vote.
Maintenance staff reported that full right-of-way ditch mowing is in progress, that cleaning ditches on Baker Avenue is scheduled as a two- to three-day project this week, and that shouldering work is nearly complete. The board discussed equipment-use policy in the context of a separate property-compliance issue and reiterated that township maintenance and equipment are not available for hire; Mr. Haack was given contractor contact information and the board scheduled a site meeting with staff to agree on expected progress toward ordinance compliance.
The board reviewed one vendor quote to replace the office computer and asked for a second quote; Vice Chairman Geyen recommended adding laptops for supervisors to the request. The board scheduled discussion of proposed projects and the 2025 budget for its Oct. 1, 2024 meeting.
