Township fills vacant supervisor seat; leadership assignments approved with abstentions

Later in the meeting the board voted on leadership assignments. Vice Chairman Geyen moved to appoint Mike Helman as chairman; Supervisor Andy Christensen seconded. Helman abstained; the motion carried 3-0. Helman then moved to appoint Geyen as vice chairman; Supervisor Ryan Nelson seconded. Geyen abstained and that motion also carried 3-0.
The appointments and the swearing-in were procedural actions the board completed without recorded dissent beyond the listed abstentions. The board noted the vacancy and subsequent appointment as part of routine governance updates and will continue regular business at its next meeting on Oct. 1, 2024.
