Oak Park Heights council approves consent agenda, records abstention on workshop notes

The Oak Park Heights City Council approved its consent agenda on Jan. 13, 2026, covering routine business items including approval of bills (checks 72477–72515), minutes, event and raffle permits, appointment of consultants, 2026 engineering rates, records‑retention updates, home‑occupation renewals and rink attendant hires.
The consent list included a resolution authorizing receipt of a donation to the police department from Cornerstone Chevrolet Headway Marketing, designation of the STOA Gazette as the city’s official newspaper and the St. Paul Pioneer Press as an alternative newspaper for 2026, and a joint powers agreement with the State of Minnesota for police operations.
Council member Johnson, Council member Ligrant, Council member Swenson and Deputy Mayor Ron were recorded as voting yes on the motions to approve the agenda and consent items. The council took a separate roll‑call vote on consent item B (approval of the city council workshop notes from Dec. 9, 2025); Council member Johnson, Council member Lulren and Council member Swinson voted yes and Deputy Mayor Ron recorded an abstention; the motion passed.
Other brief staff reports and announcements at the meeting included a recycling award (Patricia and Daniel Schlikert were named 2026 winners), a police update on a conditional job offer to a new officer pending psychological and physical clearances, and an upcoming council consideration of a Zimmerman rezoning application scheduled for Jan. 27, 2026.
The council adjourned after the business was completed.
