Township forecasts $760,000 in year-end carryover and authorizes equipment repairs

Silver Creek Township supervisors reviewed budget projections and maintenance needs at their Aug. 6 meeting and approved limited repair spending.
Vice Chairman Mike Helman told the board he expects the township to carry over roughly $160,000 in the General Fund and $600,000 in the Road & Bridge Fund at year-end. He proposed creating an equipment fund to avoid future equipment loans and said the board will receive updated budget figures each month.
In maintenance updates, the township reported substantial grading work after recent rains and that a new hire is receiving training on the grader. The board approved a motion, moved by Supervisor Brandon Geyen and seconded by Supervisor Sandy Forsman, to spend up to $4,500 on needed loader repairs; the motion carried 4-0. Supervisor Helman said staff member Chris will prepare paperwork for a culvert-replacement grant.
Helman also reported clean-up day finances: expenses of $6,293.63 and income of $7,333.00. The board set a road tour for Aug. 20 and will schedule a budget workshop toward the end of September.
