Council approved a targeted LED lighting upgrade package for city buildings and selected park pavilions after reviewing three vendor proposals and a technical recommendation from a local lighting representative.
Miss Coffee, the utility/lighting representative, recommended prioritizing interior re-lamping in high-hour spaces (city office, shop), exterior security fixtures, and fixture replacements in the fire station to improve lumen output. With available rebates and rebate assumptions, the council approved a not-to-exceed $16,950 project that excludes a larger T8 retrofit for Town Hall in favor of concentrating on higher-payback fixtures and including Twin Lakes pavilion lighting from park capital.
The motion authorized public works staff to perform eligible work in-house using a lift volunteered or rented as needed to reduce contractor costs; council noted that rebates and fixture selection made the package a two-to-three year simple payback for projected energy savings.
Staff will finalize fixture specifications to ensure code-compliant full-cutoff exterior fixtures and will schedule the work with an eye toward maximizing contractor and rebate availability.
