The task force discussed funding and outreach to expand HeatSmart and Solarized Norwalk programs. Jody said a grant through EnergizeCT could provide funding to support community organizations and promotional work to enroll more households in energy‑savings programs.
Resident Paul Fox described his experience with a Lantern Energy home energy assessment—blower‑door testing, air‑sealing and an assessment report—and said the assessor offered rebates tied to insulation work. “They did… blower door tests. They did… took about four hours in total,” Paul said, describing on‑site diagnostic work, small air‑sealing fixes with spray foam and the rebate offers he received for insulation and later heat‑pump installation.
Members noted that weatherization is a cost‑effective first step before installing heat pumps or solar, both to reduce system size and to improve comfort. Diane added that income‑eligible programs and Eversource rebates remain important access points. The group said a staff volunteer was available to help write or apply for grant funding to support outreach if EnergizeCT funds are available.
No formal action or contract was voted on during the meeting; members discussed pursuing grant funding and continuing outreach to increase participation in home‑energy programs.
