Starmont board sets May 22 as last student day, approves routine contracts and agreements

At its May 11 meeting the Starmont Community School District board voted to change the 2025‑26 calendar so students’ last day will be May 22 with a 12:30 p.m. dismissal and teachers’ last day will be Tuesday, May 26.
The motion to approve the calendar was made by Julie Uhlenkamp and seconded by Nathan Meyers; it carried 5‑0. Earlier in the meeting the board approved the consent agenda, which included approval of software and service contracts (Sergeant Laboratories Aristotle K12 Classroom Management $8,729.98; Software Unlimited accounting software $7,550.00; Iowa Association of School Boards dues and policy reference fees), personnel hires and resignations, volunteer coaches, open enrollments and other routine items.
The board also accepted fuel and milk bids (Three Rivers FS for fuel; Prairie Farms for milk) and approved the Starmont Classified Association agreement. Athletic director contracts and a motion to continue a junior varsity girls’ basketball schedule for 2026‑27 were approved. The board approved continued participation in the Storm Protection Fund for 2026‑27. The minutes record motions and unanimous votes on these routine matters.
During staff and board communications the board recognized retiring staff and heard a presentation from Erin Friedley of Northeast Iowa Community College on NICC’s College and Career Connection program and its benefits to the district.
The meeting adjourned at 7:58 p.m.
