Littleton School Committee ratifies LEA memorandum including air-quality language and moving stipend

The Littleton School Committee on June 25 ratified a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Littleton Education Association covering Sept. 1, 2026, through Aug. 31, 2029. Committee members said the LEA had already ratified the agreement; the committee’s roll call included the town administrator and produced unanimous approval.

Members and negotiators described the process as lengthy and iterative. The Chair and others noted the negotiating subcommittee (Justin McCarthy and staff member Kelly, among others) spent many meetings ironing out the details; members characterized the result as a "win-win". "We spent like 10 meetings ... and it boiled down to seven pages of changes," one member said, thanking the negotiation team for their work.

Annalise Taber pointed to specific provisions she found important: language (identified in the packet as on page 19) requiring that staff be provided a work environment with appropriate ventilation, air quality and water quality; she said the provision sends a message that the district cares about staff health and safety. Committee members also highlighted a stipend negotiated for packing and unpacking classrooms during transitions.

The Chair asked for a motion to ratify the MOA; the motion carried on a roll call vote with Annalise Taber, Janine Wood, Sean, Justin McCarthy, Town Administrator Jim Dugen and Elaine Sandleman voting in the affirmative. The Chair said the ratified MOA will be incorporated into the full contract and signed by both parties.

Members thanked Kelly and others for negotiation support and noted the timing provided closure before Kelly’s planned retirement. With no public commenters waiting, the committee concluded its meeting and adjourned by roll call vote.
