Shorewood commission reviews land‑use training and sets council liaisons

During other business at the Aug. 19, 2025 meeting, Planning Director Griffiths summarized the July 28 City Council land use planning and zoning training that he and City Attorney Shepherd provided. He reviewed municipal authority to plan, the role of the Planning Commission, zoning and implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, conditional and interim use permits, variances, time limits, and public hearings. Griffiths said he would forward the slide deck to commissioners.
The Commission scheduled City Council liaisons for the remainder of 2025: Sept. 8 — Chair Huskins; Sept. 22 — Commissioner Magistad; Oct. 27 — Commissioner Longo; Dec. 8 — Commissioner Holker. Griffiths briefly reviewed an application expected for the Sept. 2, 2025 Planning Commission meeting. Commissioner Magistad moved, Commissioner Longo seconded, and the Commission adjourned at 8:43 P.M.; the motion passed 5–0.
