Shorewood planning commission recommends increases to select planning fees for 2026

At its Aug. 19, 2025 meeting, the Shorewood Planning Commission reviewed proposed changes to the City’s 2026 fee schedule and recommended approval to the City Council.
Planning Director Griffiths explained that the City reviews its fees annually and that planning-related fee changes would take effect Jan. 1, 2026. He highlighted proposed zoning and land-use fee increases and said staff plans to consider hiring a consultant in early 2026 to perform a development fee study. Commissioner Ruoff asked whether the City had comparable fees from other cities for the zoning verification letter; Griffiths said he did not have current comparative numbers in the meeting but noted that, from his experience in Andover, that fee is $1,000 and said the proposed increase from $50 to $250 was probably on the low end.
Chair Huskins opened and closed the public hearing at 7:48 P.M. with no public comment. Commissioner Longo moved and Commissioner Holker seconded recommending approval of the 2026 fee schedule; the motion passed 5–0. The Planning Commission’s recommendation will be forwarded to the City Council for final adoption.
