The Huxley City Council unanimously approved Resolution No. 25-107 at its Nov. 25 meeting to annex property owned by SMBD Huxley Holdings, LLC into city limits.
Mayor David Kuhn opened a public hearing on the annexation at 6:30 p.m. Several residents spoke during the hearing, expressing concerns about converting agricultural land, increased density, who would bear infrastructure costs and the identity of the potential developer. Developer Abbey Gilroy responded to concerns during the public comment period.
On a motion by Council Member Murphy, seconded by Council Member Mulder, the council voted 5-0 (Roberts, Murphy, Echer, Rigler, Mulder) to approve the annexation. The record shows the hearing closed at 6:39 p.m. on a motion by Mulder and second by Roberts prior to the vote.
The resolution annexes the property into Huxley; the minutes do not specify development plans, infrastructure cost allocations, or conditions attached to the annexation. Council members thanked residents for attending and providing feedback. The next procedural step will be follow-up steps by city staff and any required site-plan or development reviews tied to future applications.
